Rare, original, 1924-5 Promotional Photographic Card / Complimentary Portrait Card featuring the 1924 reigning Miss America - Ruth A. Malcomson and given away at personal appearances while she held the title

Ruth Malcomson (April 16, 1906–May 25, 1988) was Miss America in 1924, earning the title at the tender age of 18. Stunningly beautiful by the standards of any era, Malcomson, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was the amateur winner in the 1923 Miss America contest and returned in 1924 to defeat incumbent Mary Campbell, who was seeking her third consecutive crown. Molcomson was only the third woman to hold the title of Miss America with her victory coming in the fourth pageant held at Atlantic City. At the time, being only a couple of years old, the beauty contest was sometimes still referred to as "The Atlantic City Pageant," with the winner called "The Golden Mermaid.".

This outstanding, oversized, Photomechanical Cabinet Card type Portrait measures approx. 5 5/8" x 8" and is printed on a medium weight, card stock. The Card features a fantastic portrait of the stunningly beautiful Miss America 1924 - 18 year old Ruth Malcomson. Printed text above the image reads "Miss America" and printed text below the image reads "Compliments of / Ruth A. Malcomson". There is a red and a blue line border surrounding the Image and text giving the Card a somewhat patriotic look. The image on the Card is not a real photograph but is a Photomechanical Print (a photolithograph taken from a photograph).

This wonderful Promotional Card was originally obtained directly from the estate of Ruth Malcomson some time ago along with the fantastic collection of photograph of Malcomson on a ca1925 European Tour which we are also offering this week on eBay. The purchaser was told that examples of this Card were used for autograph signing and as a hand out at personal appearances. We have not seen an example of this card in 33+ years of dealing with Historical Ephemera but we have been told that examples do show up now and then.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an original 1924-25, Promotional Card and is not a reproduction, reprint, reissue, or modern copy. It was published, printed and distributed during the period that Ruth Malcomson was the reigning Miss America - September 1924 to September 1925.

This very rare, 1924-5, Miss America Portrait Card is in near mint, original condition. The Card is clean and crisp and exceptionally well preserved with razor sharp edges and corners. There is no soiling, staining or physical damage of any kind and the Card displays beautifully. The blank back of the Card is also clean and crisp with just a hint of light, uniform age toning.

Important Notes about Shipping Charges and the eBay "Detailed Seller Rating" Star System:

The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee.

We have NEVER requested Feedback from our customers as we were taught that "fishing for compliments" was impolite but the new eBay Detailed Rating System has put us in a rather tight spot. Most buyers are unaware that eBay bases a monthly fee discount on a Seller's "Star" rating. A monthly average of "4.6 Stars" (in any one of the four "Star" categories) costs us approximately $400 in additional eBay Fees - that's $400 above what we would pay if we had a "4.8 Star" average in all 4 "Star" categories!! As a consequence we hope you do not find us rude to ask that if you are happy with our items, our service, and our packing & shipping please be sure to use the "Star" rating system and remember that a "5 Star" rating is the only way we can qualify for eBay's fee reduction program. ,
