Применение:
Энтеробиоз, аскаридоз, анкилостомидозы, стронгилоидоз, трихоцефалез, множественные нематодозы, эхинококкоз, тениоз, альвеококкоз, капилляриоз, гнатостомоз, трихинеллез, смешанные гельминтозы.

Противопоказания:
Гиперчувствительность, неспецифический язвенный колит, болезнь Крона, дисфункция печени, транзиторное повышение активности аминотрансфераз, щелочной фосфатазы и мочевины крови, снижение уровня гемоглобина, беременность, кормление грудью (на время лечения следует прекратить грудное вскармливание), детский возраст до 2 лет.

Побочные действия:
Головокружение, головная боль, нарушение функций ЖКТ, нейтропения, выпадение волос (при высоких дозах), аллергические реакции: повышение температуры тела, кожная сыпь, зуд.

Взаимодействие:
Карбамазепин и др. индукторы метаболизма понижают, а циметидин - повышает концентрацию в тканях.

Передозировка:
Симптомы: тошнота, рвота, диарея, боль в области ЖКТ. При длительном применении в высоких дозах: обратимые нарушения функции печени, гепатит, нейтропения. Лечение: промывание желудка, клизмы, прием активированного угля; специфического антидота нет.

Способ применения и дозы:
Внутрь. При энтеробиозе - взрослым и подросткам по 100 мг, детям 2-10 лет - 25-50 мг однократно и повторно через 2-4 нед в тех же дозах. При аскаридозе, трихоцефалезе, анкилостомидозе, тениозе, стронгилоидозе и смешанных гельминтозах - по 100 мг утром и вечером в течение 3 дней. При трихинеллезе - 200-400 мг 3 раза в сутки в течение 3 дней, а с 4-го по 10-й - по 400-500 мг 3 раза в сутки. При эхинококкозе - по 500 мг 2 раза в сутки первые 3 дня и 3 раза в сутки в последующие 3 дня. В дальнейшем назначают по 25-30 мг/кг в сутки в 3-4 приема.

Меры предосторожности:
Применение во время лактации требует перехода на искусственное вскармливание. Обязательно периодическое исследование мазков анальной области и кала после окончания лечения: терапия считается эффективной при отсутствии гельминтов или их яиц в течение 7 последующих дней. Необходимо избегать совместного употребления с алкоголем и жирной пищей, слабительными препаратами. Следует контролировать картину периферической крови, функции печени и почек.

Pharmacological effects:

Brand Vermox is an antihelminthic drug with a broad action spectrum. Vermox is  highly effective for enterobiasis and trichocephaliasis treatment. Vermox works by interfering with the glucose utilization in the helminth's tissue. Vermox also helps to inhibit the synthesis of tubulin and slow down the production of ATP.

Indications:  Brand Vermox is used for the treatment of the following diseases:

  • Enterobiasis
  • Ascariasis
  • Hookworm disease
  • Strongyloidosis
  • Trichocephaliasis
  • Echinococcosis
  • Various nematodes
  • Alveococcosis disease
  • Capillariasis
  • Gnathostomosis
  • Various helminth infection

Warnings and Precautions: The drug should not be used in the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparations.
  • Pregnancyand lactation period
  • Child age (up to age of 2)
  • Nonspecific ulcerative colitis
  • Grohn's disease
  • Liver decompensation

Vermox side effects: Drugs may cause side-effects which in specific patients may manifest differently. In the following paragraph we want to underline the most serious and frequent side effect of Brand Vermox that  were identified by the drug manufacturers. The possibility of the adverse effect manifestation depends only on the individual and his specific traits. Mebendazole side effects include:

  • Dizziness, headaches, nausea, vomiting, stomachache, diarrhea
  • Allergic reactions: skin rash, nettle rash, angioneurotic edema,
  • “Liver” transaminase activity increase
  • Hypercreatinemia
  • Leukopenia
  • Anemia
  • Eosinophilia
  • Hair loss
  • Erythrocyturia
  • Negative influence on the fetation

Dosage:
Orally pills.
Enterobiasis - adults and adolescents, 100 mg, children 2-10 years - 25-50 mg dose, and again after 2-4 weeks in the same doses. 
Ascariasis, trichuriasis, hookworm disease, taeniasis, strongyloidiasis and mixed helminthiasis - 100 mg in the morning and evening for three days.
Trichinosis - 200-400 mg 3 times daily for 3 days, and from 4 th to 10 th - 400-500 mg 3 times a day.
Echinococcosis - 500 mg two times a day the first 3 days and 3 times a day over the next 3 days. Later appointed to 25-30 mg / kg per day in 3-4 doses.
