 A MESSAGE FROM ROBIN ZANDER

During 1967-68, Fred Brace lived up the street from me. We met just hanging around the neighborhood, eventually forming a band called Butterscotch Sunday. I had been in a band before that called The Destinations and Fred would show up once in a while when we would play out. I was 14 - he was older and had a car!

Fred was a cool bass player - he had all the best equipment. He had the first Sun Bass Amp I'd ever seen, an Echoplex and Wah Wah. He also had a Hammond and a Wurlitzer, which we played through a Leslie speaker. Sometimes I'd use it with the guitar to get a particular sound.

Here’s a sample of our typical set list:
Foxy Lady
Purple Haze
I'm a Man
We Gotta Get Out of This Place
Get Off of My Cloud
My Girl
Shotgun
Backstreet Girl
NSU
Do You Love Me
Rain
Paperback Writer
Hang on Sloopy

Fred was my mentor and my best friend. I have recently found out that Fred has bile duct cancer, and, as you can imagine, the bills from his frequent hospital stays are astronomical. We’re auctioning off this guitar to help defray the cost of some of the medical bills.

Good luck – and thanks for bidding on this item!
