A nice, clean, tight, hardcover copy of "The Silmarillion" by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by George Allen & Unwin, ISBN 0048231398. This is the first edition as it states "First Published in 1977" on the copyright page with No indication of other printings or editions and with the fold-out map at back of text. 

This is the more uncommon export copy lacking any price on the dust jacket's front flap. The domestic British copies had a price shown on the jacket. 

The book has blue stain applied to the top edge of the text and a dot of foxing to the front of text. The dust jacket has a few creases, rubbing, a few small indentations and mild edge wear. No tears. No chips.
