Up for auction is this early “Den Heliga Skrift” copyright 1889 W.R. Vansant. This enormous Swedish Bible is hardbound in full leather with deep carvings on both covers, the surfaces have extensive gilt enhancements as do the page edges. The text is entirely in Swedish and Illustrated by Gustave Dore, there are numerous plate engravings throughout, both in black & white and in full color. The cover itself does have visible wear in several different areas including a split in the binding. The pages are all in excellent well preserved condition. There is no brittleness in the paper. There are some heavy card stock pages in the back intended for family photos. Their are decorative metal hasps which hold the Bible closed. This Bible measures 10 1/2 inches wide by 12 1/2 inches in length and is 4 inches thick. An absolutely wonderful estate find offered with no reserve.
