A pair of Castle Howard loudspeakers in excellent condition. Hand-made in Yorkshire, these speakers have a reputation for being very well made and having an outstanding performance.

They measure 1030cmH x  32D x 21W and each weighs 25.5kg. With boxes the pair weighs 59kg.

Each has two 150mm bass units, one firing forward and the other vertical tuned to different frequencies with a single 25mm metal dome tweeter. The cabinet design is a Quarter Wave Twin Pipe system giving a frequency response of 32Hz - 20kHz. With a good source, these are capable of truly deep and tight  bass with excellent stereo imagery and depth given the right room and positioning.

I have owned these since new and have used a variety of amplifiers including various high output  power amplifiers and valve amplifiers of various types. The speakers will deal with any amplifier in the range 25-150W so is great for valve or high power solid state amplifiers. I have used them bi-wired.

They have never been moved around so there are no bad marks or bruises to the finish. The speaker units are all undamaged as are the fabric covers and frames. It would cost a fortune to buy a similar spec and performing speaker today. Selling because I am moving house and downsizing.

Complete with plinths, spikes and original boxes. For collection only but would consider meeting half way up to 30 miles or so.

I should have listed these as late S1 speakers. I should point out however that I had the drive units upgraded from Castle to S2 specification in order to deal with higher power levels.
