This is a rare, 1960s Egmond guitar, which has great tone and low action. Was professionally setup.

This guitar used to belong to Lee Mavers (The La's) who then passed it to their drummer, who subsequently sold to a local band and eventually found its way to me (I'm a musician friend of someone who's Lee Mavers friend, and who told me the story - if that matters!)

Whether you are interested in having a small piece of Liverpool history, or just fancy playing a cheap but great sounding acoustic guitar, well, maybe this auction is for you!

The Egmond has a thick neck, that still feels great, and you can tell the quality of the wood is better than most newer models, be it Epiphones etc etc, It has a "woodier" sound too.

Great for blues, indie etc.

COLLECTION PREFERRED, BUT WILL SHIP TOO.

A lot of people are watching this and I got a few questions asking if I could prove this actually belonged to Lee Mavers. The answer is NO

A good friend of mine, who used to work at a top recording studio, and fixing guitars etc, and who knows a lot of people (Dave Zutons, Pete Wylie etc) told me this guitar used to belong to Lee Mavers, as described above. He insisted on this story even after I said I didn't care and didn't believe him... so I have all reasons to believe this is accurate. Liverpool is a very small scene and people's paths cross quite often.

Also, please bear in mind that lots of musicians have lots of guitars, not all of them used often - it's quite possible that Lee Mavers never used this guitar live at any gigs, for instance! For all we know, this could've been a guitar he had years before forming The La's... and if he just gave it away maybe he wasn't fond of it etc! Who knows!

I priced the guitar accordingly - I started auction at a fair price based on if you're just looking for a cool, rare vintage guitar, nevertheless of the story behind it. I expect if people believe/care about the Lee Mavers connection they'll pay more, but if they don't, then fine with me...
