The car for sale is a USAC Dodge Charger Stock Car built and driven by Bay Darnell.  This car was built in 1971 and was an active racer until the 1980's.  It is very rare to find a real Hemi powered old stock car as many of them got destroyed on the short tracks of America after running in USAC or NASCAR.  This ended up being Bay's 2nd car and lots of famous drivers drove this one including Dick Trickle, Indy car great Gary Bettenhausen, and Dave Whitcomb.  Is this the most affordable Hemi car on the market?

We got this car about 6 years ago and have a complete history of the car.  When purchased the history was not very clear but we have tracked down all of the previous owners and talked to all the experts to confirm the history of the car.  Ralph Timan, crew chief for Bay Darnell, has confirmed all of the information below and we have a signed letter from Mr. Timan.  Here is a run down of this great car:

 - Built by Bay Darnell and Crew Chief Ralph Timan in the middle of the 1971 USAC season and it made it's debut late in the 1971 season.

 - Bay built a new long track car for 1972 and this car ended up being the back up/dirt car.  In the big races like Milwaukee and Texas it was used as a 2nd car with drivers such as Gary Bettenhausen and Dick Trickle.

 - It was raced as the dirt track car until 1976 when it was sold to USAC racer Ken Rowley.  Ken raced it from 1977-1978 and stopped using it when he went to a kit car.

 - The car was then sold off to Dave Stacey who raced the car in the Ohio area.

 - After Dave Stacey was done with the car it sat in the back of his property for years until bought by another gentleman in Ohio.

 - It was then bought by David Tom who moved the car to Arizona in the 90's.  He sold it in the mid-2000's.

 - The chassis next went to Ernie and Bill Conn (Ernie was crew chief for West Coast Winston West Legend Jack McCoy) in Modesto, CA and that is who I got the car from.

This car is a huge project but any surviving USAC car is a rare piece especially from a famous driver like Bay Darnell.  This car was always powered by the famous 426 Hemi engine unlike in NASCAR when they went to the small block in 1974.  The car has a correct full floater 8 3/4 in it and was always a drum brake car.

We have come to the conclusion it would take a long time before we could ever finish this one so have decided to let someone else finish it.  Have a lot of parts that could go with the car as well so we can talk after the auction about them.  Have been collecting parts for a long time for this one and we have bumpers, glass, trim plus a parts car that goes with it.

Here is a link to the full story on the car, scroll to near the bottom of this page: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=6969990&page=8&fpart=25&vc=1

Please e-mail us to set up an appointment to see the car.  Feel free to ask any questions about the car, we have way more info on the car then what we can put in an eBay ad.  The car is located in Olympia, Washington, which is about an hour south of Seattle, Washington and an hour and a half north of Portland, Oregon.

Every effort has been made to make an accurate description of this car, but some things were probably missed. This is a big project and this is being sold with no warranties expressed or implied.  It is also sold on bill of sale only as it does not have a title and never been licensed on the street.
