In the modern day we live in, having tan lines and getting sun burnt is considered to be no problem at all. But what is going on beneath our skin can sometimes be a lot worse than what we may expect. It is very likely you know somebody who has been seriously affected by damage from the sun. In fact, approximately 3,500,000 people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year.

Ozone loss is a serious health threat. Since the 1970's, concerns about how our lifestyles affect the environment have increased. The more damage there is to the ozone layer, the more UVB rays that reach our bodies. UVB rays can produce DNA damage in the skin and mucous membranes, causing genetic mutations that can lead to skin cancer and other health complications.
Skin cancer can be dramatically reduced through education, early detection, and behavior modification. Since its founding in 1979, The Skin Cancer Foundation has set the standard for educating the public and the medical profession about skin cancer, its prevention by means of sun protection, the need for early detection, and prompt, effective treatment. It is the only international organization devoted solely to combating the world’s most common cancer, now occurring at epidemic levels.

I made these three galaxy patterned hats as a side project. They are completely hand-painted. The whole space theme is very common, but very relevant to this subject in reference to ozone damage. All three hats are available and are being sold on eBay for $30 (plus shipping). Through the Giving Works program, 100% of the auction sales will go directly to The Skin Cancer Foundation. All of the hats are one of one and have differences that make them unique. To reach the eBay page where you can purchase one of these hats, visit my website and view my portfolio. Click this image at the bottom of the page to be redirected. You can also search 'Bizon Customs' on eBay. Also, I encourage everyone to visit skincancer.org and consider making a donation.
