Clean the glassSpray down the glass with the window cleaner and dry. Try to make the glass as clean and dust free as possible. Dry off the glass with a clean, soft cloth.
Place contact paper on the glassCut a piece of contact paper in the same shape as your pattern. Make the cut-out several inches larger than the original pattern. Place the contact paper on the glass where you want your pattern to be located and smooth out all of the air bubbles.
Trace your pattern onto the contact paperPlace the carbon paper on the contact paper, and then place your pattern on top of that. Using a pencil, trace the outline of your pattern onto the carbon paper. The outline of your pattern will be transferred to the contact paper. Remove the carbon paper and your pattern when you are finished.
Cut out your patternUse the utility knife to carefully cut away the excess contact paper from the glass. Double check the edges of the paper to make sure that they are still completely attached to the glass.
Apply etching creamPut on your latex gloves and spread a thick layer of etching cream over the exposed glass with a foam brush. Once the surface is thickly coated, let the cream sit for 15 minutes.
Wash off etching creamAfter the etching cream has sat for the required amount of time, wash off the glass with water. Remove the contact paper when the glass is clean, and you should see the pattern etched into the glass
