In 1873 the Lanco (LANCO = LANgendorf COmpany) was a brand owned Langendorf SA, located in Langendorf in Switzerland in the canton of Solothurn.

In 1880 he had a breakdown and drastically reduced the number of employees, the family (owners Kottmann) also tried to maintain with room and board the remaining employees with continuous training but had absenteeism and alcoholism problems.

So in the mid-1880s Kottmann, before the company was put into liquidation, hired workers from eastern Switzerland and some capable manager for groped to revive the situation. Returned orders and production expanded very well.

The company was highly considered as it was socially oriented, thanks to the Kottmann family were built schools, a network of electric lighting and fire hydrants in Langendorf, also building cheap houses for workers.
