Copeland Parian Naked Figure of Ondine c1897
by J.J.Pradier. Fabulous Copeland Parian figure of “Ondine” or “The River
Allegory.” The figure stands 9.25 inches (23.5cms) high, is of
exquisite fine quality, with superb detail, and excellent modelling. Ondine is portrayed
as a naked maiden, water lily leaves in her hair, sitting on an over- turned
water jar. In her hand, she is holding a mirror, the other hand resting under
her chin and peeping from the reeds by her feet is a little frog! The figure is
impressed COPELAND D 97 The figure is in excellent condition and is without
cracks, firing flaws, hair lines, restoration or repair. She does have one very
minor flea sized flat chip underneath the base This is Copeland at its very best. Reference is made to this figure in “Parian” “Copeland’s
