I have been asked to auction these pieces on behalf of VANS EUROPE (If you're asking how/why it's because I'm the UK Skate Team manager and I also have an eBay business!). They are all 100% genuine as described and can be verified.  They were produced as one off pieces in situ at the VANS DOWNTOWN SHOWDOWN IN PARIS this summer.

Following on from the success of the A.skate Foundation's Autism Friendly Skate Session at this year's Vans Downtown Showdown, we are proud to announce a very special auction of art created LIVE during the event.  Featuring the works of globally renowned artists such as Rich Jacobs, French and Jay Croft, the auction presents a truly unique opportunity to not only own a one-of-a-kind piece of art, but also to really make a difference to the lives of young people living with Autism.

JAY CROFT

Jay Croft has been drawing since he was a little kid. His grandfather was the one who encouraged him to draw something new everyday. He drew pictures of animals and the typical comic book hero but he always created characters of his own.At the age of 12 skateboarding came into his life, and he continued to draw everyday. But instead of drawing animals and his comic book heroes he started drawing all of the skateboard graphics that he saw between the covers of Thrasher and Transworld.  He would eventually go on and work for several skateboard companies and draw graphics for the Alien Workshop, Vans, Element and countless skateshops across the United States.When he is not skateboarding, drawing or painting he enjoys spending time with his wife Julie, their daughter Maeve and their dog Jimmy.Jay has shown his work all over the world in such cities as: London, Bristol, Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Laguna Beach and Columbia, South Carolina. He currently publishes streetcanoe.com.

A.skate - Autism. Skating with Kids through Acceptance, Therapy, and Education

Why not the multi colored puzzle piece? We do not follow the trend... and we created our own! The A Skate Foundation is constantly searching for clues and cues to answers in the complex structure of Autism. In the complex structure of the universe we use symbolism and association to do everything from teaching, navigation, contemplation, worship, and even branding. These are methods to think, steer, and connect. It is communing with the familiar to potentially open doors to the unfamiliar. We have chosen the image of the moth for our talisman. Traditional traits given to the moth are INTUITION, HEIGHTENED AWARENESS, PSYCHIC PERCEPTION, KNOWLEDGE OF OTHERWORLD, SECOND SIGHT, INFLUENCE, CLARITY, VULNERABILITY, PERSISTENCE, DETERMINATION, CONCEALMENT, and FAITH. The skulls become images of the brevity and sacrament of life; the urgency to connect those dots for answers. These traits are easily be attributed to the struggle of Autism. In the sometimes hard to understand world of a person facing Autism there lies that mysterious list of traits and above all FAITH and DETERMINATION to rise above their situation.
