12S supplementary grey socket, relay and electrics

In this 12S kit, the grey socket is designed to be fitted to the supplied T plate with the vehicle's existing 12N black socket. It provides an automatically switched power supply to charge caravan batteries and run caravan fridges at 12 volts whilst towing. The split charge relay monitors the vehicle's battery voltage and switches power to the caravan battery and fridge only when the vehicle is running and its charging system is providing sufficient power. It can be used for caravans built both before and after 1999, when some manufacturers modified caravan wiring. Included in the kit is a T type socket mounting plate. This bolts behind the towball and allows the new 12S and existing 12N sockets to be mounted above and below each other, usually to the left of the towball. 6 socket bolts are included - 3 for the new socket and 3 for the original socket. The socket cable is 2 metres long which is ideal for most cars. It comes with 1 metre of plastic sleeving to protect it from chafing and damage. 5 metres of heavy duty 27A rated cable is included to run to the fuse box or battery. This cable is double insulated to provide extra protection if it is run underneath the vehicle. A 20A fuse holder and blade type fuse is provided along with both 6mm and 8mm ring connectors to suit different battery connections. 20 assorted cable ties allow a neat job to be made.
