Here is a super rare genuine STEREO! top of the range & historic Dansette Record Player The "Stereophonic A35" fully restored & serviced to as new working condition! Its historic as it was Dansettes first true stereo player! they did produce add on amplifiers for players including the HiFI so you could convert them to stereo but this was the first true stereo one produced! finished in the classic & scarce ORIGINAL Dansette colours of duck egg & cream rexine this has NOT been recovered or repainted this is the real thing! its fitted with gleaming gilt fittings, knobs & trims, The turntable is in two tone grey, it comes with a matching speaker unit that plugs into the main player for your stereo sound! an intricate woven cloth is on the front panel of both units , fitted with a quality BSR UA16 autochanger turntable that plays speeds of 16, 33, 45 & 78rpm & record sizes of 7" 10" & 12", about 8 records can be stacked & will then be played in turn or manually if prefered, four brass capped controls are mounted on the front one a on/off, a volume, a tone, & balence, the iconic & unique to this player Stereophoic Dansette badge is mounted on the front of both units, This Stereophonic is suitable for the fitting of legs if so desired as the fittings for them are already in place. (legs are NOT included but are always available if you require them)

This Dansette "Stereophonic" dates from 1964 the 19/03/64 to be exact as its internally stamped! , its a very nice example of this superb player, back in 1964 Stereo records were only made in small amounts singles were still mono & albums did not ALL start to be issued in stereo until later in the decade so Dansette did not make this player in large ammounts compared to your Majors & Bermudas etc, both units are fitted with large speakers to give a great sound in fact during my testing of this player I was asked by a family member to turn it down! It was the Dansette that brought music to the nations teenagers quality record players in many colour scemes they are now regarded as design icons, many other companys produced players during this period but none had the classic look that Dansettes had & they truly sum up a golden age of music of the 1960s perfectly!

An interesting bit of trivia about this player is that when Kelly Jones the lead singer of the rock band the Stereophonics was trying to think up a name for the band he remembered his dad having a dansette record player with the name Stereophonic on it & thought this was a great name for a band so thats how the Stereophonics got their name!!

This "Stereophonic" has been stripped & cleaned inside & out, the colours are ALL original rexine this has NOT been recovered or painted simply cleaned so its all 100% original coverings unlike many painted or recovered ones you see today! of course being over 50 years old it would be almost impossible to be in mint cosmetic condition & i have carefully reduced any marks to a minimum, I would say its in very good condition after 50 years! all the hinges latches & knobs are original & have been removed and cleaned so they now gleam like they did in 1964, its still got the Dansette guarantee tag on the carrying handle these are mostly missing today! the front cloth on both units has no rips & looks great after it was removed & cleaned. the turntable is very clean & the turntable mat is original & is just as soft as when it was new!

This has a three valve amplifier & this has been serviced with any out of spec components being replaced, for safety a new insulated earthed mains cable has been fitted, a 3amp correct fuse is fitted to the plug, its fitted with a new old stock BSR SX6M true stereo cartridge giving the correct output for this player, a new lp/45 stylus & 78 stylus are fitted, The turntable has been lubricated & works as it should on ALL speeds, there is no crackle from the volume tone or balence controls that are fully responsive! The autochanger works perfectly & is not sluggish during the changing of records.

This is a great chance to own an iconic original 1960s Dansette, the "Stereophonic" was a top end Dansette, its a true 60s icon classic, & this particular model is not one you see very often & with being unrecovered & still with its original baby blue & cream rexine intact makes this a Dansette not to miss! & its Stereo too so all records can be played on it, if you were to fit it with legs it would look even better! it has that great vintage authentic sound that you only get with valve amplifiers & it should also prove to be a sound investment...
