Note 1: this reader is a generic item: drivers are not required for use with Vista.
Note 2: this reader is hi-speed capable (otherwise it wouldn't work with Readyboost!). Hi-speed means a raw data rate of up to 480Mbps.
Note 3: This reader does carry the hi-speed USB logo. It has been tested and will work at Hi-speed rates (otherwise it wouldn't work with Readyboost!).
One last thing ... Readyboost is a Vista/Windows 7-only feature - don't expect to run Readyboost on any other operating system!
General Notes about USB2 / Hi-speed devices
To ensure Readyboost will work on your Vista PC you must have a Hi-speed USB 2 .0 socket / port / hub. This isn't a new technology, it's been around for years ... the testing was done on a 3 year old Socket 478 motherboard!!!

Note for anyone unfamiliar with the way Readyboost works when a new device is used for the first time or if disconnected/reconnected. This is the was I understand it ... Readyboost is a service that runs under Vista. Therefore it has to "wait it's turn" to start along with other services that start up with the PC. Readyboost then looks for devices, tests them (if permitted - see 2nd photograph) to see if the device and the disk itself are fast enough to enable Readyboost to use. Then it has to build a cache file to the size indicated. This takes time!!! It's not the devices' fault that you have to wait ... it's the Readyboost service!!! Every device that I have used that is Readyboost-ready exhibits this same characteristic. It can take Readyboost from seconds to minutes to complete it's job of enabling the device, depending on a variety of paramaters as outlined previously. Once sucessfully started, Readyboost can and does speed up your system. The more you do, the more Readyboost will help.
