This is a pair of new handmade Texas Style Bell step in chaps. They were made by a grumpy old cowboy from Happy, Texas. He has been building cowboy gear since the 1970's. He does a really nice job. They are marked with his stamp on the belt. He builds real cowboy using gear and has built chaps and chinks for many cowboys throughout the US and Canada including working cowboys on the JA Ranch, LS Ranch and Bell Ranch.

These chaps are made out of about ounce reddish brown chap leather rough side out. This is good quality heavy duty durable leather. The leather is soft so you will not have to spend a year breaking them in. The chaps are trimmed in sand chap leather smooth side out and are buck stitched with light brown lace leather. The yokes and stiffeners are triple thick. They have a heavy latigo leather belt, brass plated cart buckle, brass tie ring and twenty brass conchos on the legs. The chaps have two outside pockets. These would be a great pair of using chaps.

How to Measure Yourself for These Chaps

  • A soft or cloth measuring tape will provide more accurate measurements
  • Tape should be pulled around snuggly but not too tight or loose
  • Take your measurements with the jeans and boots on that you will be wearing with the chaps

Waist – measure around your waist where the chaps will be worn. These chaps sit about two inches below the waist line.

Thigh – measure the circumference around the largest part of your upper thigh. If you carry stuff in your pockets include that in your measurement. Depending on whether or not you want them to fit skin tight or a little loose it is always a good idea to add a half inch allowance to ensure fit. See the following example:

Measurement taken 24”

Additional Allowance ¼”

Total for Thigh 24 ¼”

Buy a pair with a minimum thigh of 24 ¼”

Outseam – These chaps sit about two inches below the waist so measure on the outside leg from the top of where the chaps will sit on your waist to the floor with your boots on.

Knee – measure around your knee. This measurement is more critical on a pair of step-in style because you need to be able to get in and out of them easily. There should be at least a two inch allowance to allow your knee to bend when sitting and also for ease of taking them on and off.

Measurement taken 17"

Additional Allowance 2"

Total for Knee 19"

Buy a pair with a minimum knee size of 19"
