Never mind if you have the latest zeiss computerized instrument with pattern recognition software - this is still a worthy read, and you will end up knowing how to make better use of the tool you have in a microscope, whether it is the plastic kids toy or the state of the art optical tool in a research lab.

Even a nice summary bit on the joys of microscopy as a hobby or recreation for your family or yourself.
Drawing tables, how to collaminate the microscope, micro-photography, test patterns and their use.
I struggled with a microscope I was given as a budding future doc/ pathologist / microbiologist and if I had read this book back then, hundreds of hours of frustration could have been saved.
I wish I had had it, now you can have it.
Contents:
Preface
This book is intended as a guide to the use of the microscope. The correct use of the instrument follows directly from a knowledge of the functions of the different parts. It has therefore been found best to develop the method of manipulation in the course of the descriptions of the component protions. Such particulars as are given of the principles of its optical construction are of the simplest character, and their comprehension requires no optical knowledge. Certain theoretical matters are stated in this book, but are not explained. Some of the descriptions may appear to be extremely elementary to experienced microsocpist, but it is hoped that even they may find useful matter which is not available in the ordinary text-books.
Chapter I A simple description of the microscope
Chapter II Illuninating apparatus and sources of illumination
Chapter III Apparatus for holding specimens
Chapter IV Sundry Apparatus
Chapter V Object glasses and eyepiece
Chapter VI The microscope stand
Chapter VII The microscope as a recreation

Many great books of skills and technology were abandoned or forgotten, and they languished on the shelves of factories, in boxes in attics, and in garages and libraries.
Now you can again delight and learn from them. This is a great drafting and drawing book, excellent instruction, great drawings to learn from, ideal for someone starting out or someone wanting to see what good standards used to be, and still are.
Enjoy! oh, and a pitch for the other publications we have, we are trying to selectively resurrect the best and most useful tomes of the past, take a look at ebay store
