DER BAUERNSPIEGEL - LEITFADEN FÜR DEN RICHTIGEN UMGANG MIT DEN BAUERN

SELTENE UND ATTRAKTIVE INKUNABEL VON WERNER ROLEWINCK:

AUTOR / VERFASSER
Werner Rolewinck

TITEL
De regimine rusticorum.

DRUCKER
Bartholomäus von Unkel, Köln, um 1481.

INHALT & BEDEUTUNG

DER BAUERNSPIEGELHE - MANUAL FOR PROPER HANDLING OF FARMERS

RARE AND ATTRACTIVE INCUNABLE BY WERNER ROLEWINCK:

AUTHOR
Werner Rolewinck

TITLE
De rusticorum regimine.

PRINTER
Bartholomew of Unkel, Cologne, about 1481.

CONTENT & IMPORTANCE
In the present work is the most important and popular "Bauernspiegel", written in 1472 by the Cologne Carthusian Rolewinck Werner (1425-1502). Rolewinck defined and described herein, the social role and the social significance of the farmers in the late Middle Ages and is a pain to thread with the pastoral use of the peasants. He represents vehement in his remarks, the equality of men - for God and in the face of death. For him, the farmer is nothing less than a brother, a friend and collaborator of the reign of God and switching and nourisher of mankind. The recovery of the fruits of the soil, the seeds for the production of bread and grapes for the production of the wine are symbols of the sacrificial death of Christ, the Son of God. Thus, in every service at the Eucharist, the transubstantiation of the Bauer gifts celebrated the body and blood of the Savior.

Rolewincks appreciation of the state of the peasants was unfortunately virtually no consideration. So it came a few years later to considerable unrest among the peasantry, which ultimately led in the “Bundschuh” organization (1493-1517). The Bundschuh was in turn one of the roots of the German Peasants' War from 1524 to 1526.
