Dual Test Record
Lab 01152

Label: Dual
Format: 33 RPM 12 inch Vinyl LP
Condition: VG/EX (Graded Cover/Record) See Definitions Below
Genre: Audio Test
Comments: Rare promotional one-sided audio test record. Sent only to high end audio component retail stores to test Dual Turntables' Ultra Low Mass tonearm/cartridge. This is a very elaborate vinyl pressing: the underside of the playing surface vinyl has an extra layer of what seems to be clear glass or heavy plastic glued to the bottom (see pictures). This purposefully causes the vinyl on top to be slightly undulated or wavy. These waves are the test. Dual (the manufacturer) wants to show you that their combined arm / cartridge can track a warped record. The only sound on the disk is a 300 hz tone so you can hear if the needle separates from the disk as it runs up and down.

Label reads 300 HZ Signal Velocity 10 CM/Sec 8 Warps 1,0 MM Each. The double-thickness disc is exceptionally heavy. Highly unusual pressing not found elsewhere.

Price: $450

Condition / Grading Definitions
For over 20 years we have been buying and selling vintage records, always striving to be accurate in our grading assessments. We do so as if we would be purchasing the record ourselves. If you have any questions about the specific condition of a record you are welcome to contact us for more details. We want you to be happy with your purchase.

SS = Still factory sealed. A Record that has never been opened and is still sealed in the original factory shrink wrap.

M- = Near mint. Our highest grade for an opened record. The record may only have been played once or twice, or the previous owner was very meticulous in how they handled it. Vinyl is extra clean and shiny with virtually no signs of wear. Cover is also very clean appearing and well preserved.

EX = Only slight signs of wear; still very clean, with a few very light surface marks which won't distract from the sound. Cover also has only slight wear and will still be in strong collectible condition. This grade should still satisfy most demanding collectors.

VG+ = Shows some signs of being used, but has still been well cared for. It may have light surface wear and a little record noise at times such as during soft passages. Overall it should still play well. Cover may have some wear or light ring wear but does not have any serious damage or defects.

VG = A more used record with some overall wear and light marks in the vinyl. There should be no skips while playing the record. Cover will have some wear, seamwear, ring wear, or a price sticker.

VG- (VG Minus) = We normally don't offer this poor condition, but some titles are very difficult to find in any condition. It will have some scratches or overall wear, and might play with a lot of noise. The cover would have heavy wear, ring wear, perhaps some tearing or splitting as well.
