Universe X: Spidey (Key Issue - Contains Bob Harras Slander, Ultra Rare German Edition that came out the same time as the US Version) - CGC'd at 9.8 (Highest Graded Copy!)

Here's the story behind how I was lucky enough to happen upon of the most rare Spider-Man comics in the world. The fact of the matter is, I didn't even know they existed. Those of you that have bought from me before know that I have had all three versions of the US recalled Universe X: Spidey Slams (Regular, DF and DF Sketch). Well, one day a friend of mine sends me this comic and tells me to look at it. I see it and I say to myself, "Wow! I didn't know they printed these in Germany also." Then, I get this bright idea to look inside to see if by some odd chance, it would contain the Bob Harras Slam. Lo and behold, it did!
 
If you know me, you know that I love rare and difficult to find Modern comics.... and that I do my research. So here's what I found out. When the original regular US version of Universe X: Spidey (Mask Cover) was printed, the German Edition (Universum X Special 2) was also printed and distributed to the German market. The unthinkable happened: initial readers of the comic noticed the slander and Marvel immediately pulled it from the store shelves. By this time, it was too late for them to do anything about the German Editions, so they stayed out there.
 
By all estimates, there are less than 500 of these German Editions floating around. Remember, Germany is a much smaller comic market than the US, so much less copies of the comic were printed. This makes the German Edition just as, or even more rare than the DF Sketch version of the recalled Universe X: Spidey. Only 5 of these (recalled DF Sketch Cover) have ever passed through my hands, compared to over 20 of the Regular Recalled Cover.
 
The bottom line is this book is VERY rare. I'm pretty sure even you didn't know these existed, just like I did before I first saw them. The old addage holds true again: You learn something new each day. Enjoy the comic!
 
The slander on page 28 that refers to Bob Harras (ex Marvel Editor) reads like this: "HARRAS, HA, HA, HE'S GONE, GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH, HE WAS A NASTY S. O. B.!".
