BEAUTIFUL LARGE ANTIQUE GOLD CARVED SHELL CLASSICAL GREEK CAMEO BROOCH HERA 1840

A fabulous, larger-scale antique natural shell cameo; finely hand carved to depict Queen of the Gods, Hera / Juno, with wonderful natural highlighted colours to her headdress and features, set in a solid 9 carat gold (tests thereabouts) mount for wear as a brooch.

A wonderfully attractive classical carving...extremely collectable & wearable too!

CONDITION: All original and very, very good. Slightest signs of wear and very faint natural stresses to shell commensurate with age and use. Mount could do with a light clean.

DEFECTS: None.

DATE/MARKS: Around 1830/40. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS: 67 x 51 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.

WEIGHT: Approx. 36.2 grams.
