A Pair of Vintage BNU5 Russian Made Binoculars, power 8 x 30.

These date to 1990 as marked on the Case Lid, this is supported by the Serial No, 906**** = June 1990.

Serial No :- N 9066143.

Very good quality Binoculars, they are reputedly and arguably comparable to Zeiss and Leica, I purchased these from an ex Member of the Military who used them when in service.

Condition of the Coated Lenses is really good as seen, they have no noticeable surface wear, no cracks, chips, scratches or major damage, and are firmly seated.

The Binoculars are working extremely well and are very usable, there are some very slight specks of dust visible when viewed from the objective end ....but in use they focus very sharply, brightly and clearly, with nothing at all to compromise the view, and with no double imaging.

There is no internal damage visible, and there are no rattles when shaken.

Both the Focusing r/h Ocular and the Central Focusing Mechanism work very well and move smoothly with no slack.

There is no Grid or Range Finder visible through the Optics.

Both of the Eye cups have very slight surface wear, they are both structurally sound with no cracks or major damage. 

The Wraps have only minor surface wear and are both firmly in place with no losses or damage. 

The Barrel Arms pivot firmly on the Central Bar.

The Metalwork shows some very minor surface wear, it has no major damage or structural issues.

The Synthetic Case has negligible wear, it is tidy and complete inside and out with a secure working Closure, its Leather Shoulder Strap is strong and intact as is the one on the Binoculars themselves.

The cleanest example of this Binocular I have come across, they would make a superb addition to a collection and / or a great contemporary accessory.
