A 45 year old gem, 1969 Chevrolet Caprice equipped with a 396, turbo 400, 12 bolt, AC, tilt wheel, remote mirror, disc brakes, rallies, and a one owner car until August 2012.

Car history: Bought new at Sevenich Motor Company in Evert Washington by Ciecil & Bernice. They kept the original warranty book plus some paper work from dealer. The Caprice had one re-paint in the late 70's. Paint overall has held up very well with hood and trunk faded. In about 1984 Bernice, then a widow, took car in for some motor repairs and the shop tore the motor down and told her the engine needed a $7,000 rebuild. Not having that kind of money she had car towed home with parts in trunk and stored car in garage for 27 years, car had 106,232 miles on it then. In 2012 Bernice put the Caprice on Craig's List , and Bill W. bought the car. Bill got right on it, collecting parts for the motor. He liked having a 396 but not the 265 hp version, he got a set of 3931063,  396/427 heads, a 3883948 4 barrel intake and a 7029200 Rochester 396/325 hp carb. Bill had the original motor, with engine suffix of JQ and partial VIN that matches the Caprice rebuilt with a 325hp cam and had the crank balanced. I have the $4,500 receipt for rebuild and it doesn't include buying heads, intake and carb. Bill added disc brakes, with new calipers and turned rotors. New rear brakes and wheel cylinders, new upper ball joints, had original radiator rebuilt, and new charging system. To finish it up he added dual exhaust, alumninized  pipes with stainless steel Magnflo mufflers, exhaust exits downward in front of rear bumper the way the factory exhaust did. In early June 2013 I bought car from Bill, he was going through a divorce and had to sell it. I added the 15x7 ralley wheels. Have a new power booster and master cylinder that isn't installed yet.

Caprice body: Car is straight, solid, rust free, never been in a fender bender. It has a few dings , scratches, paint is faded but all body lines, fenders, hood and trunk lid line up very nice. Front & rear bumpers, front & rear valance, upper & lower grill all in very nice shape. Trunk had a mat in it and this is the first car I've had that didn't have rust under the mat. Trunk is all original paint spatter and in excellent condition. The car was repainted in the late 70's and was painted in original, color, Azure Turquoise, a rare color, with a parchment vinyl roof in excellent original condition, No rust bubbles or separations showing. Under the hood looks very nice, inner fenders, core support, fire wall, and braces look very good with only very minor surface rust in core support area. All glass is original and has factory tint. Windshield is near excellent as is rear window and all side glass. All side windows roll up and down as they should. Rubber moldings around doors, windows, jams and trunk are original and very nice showing little wear. The frame, suspension, cross member and rear end are all rock solid with the usual surface rust that cleans right up.

Interior: Nothing has been done to the interior, it's all original and almost mint. Door panels, rear side panels, dash pad, package tray, and kick panels are excellent. Front seat fabric is very nice, no seams letting go, no tears or missing buttons, chrome side panels are very nice, fabric has a few light stains on lower cushion, I haven't tried cleaning products on it, they aren't that noticeable but may come out with some scrubbing. Rear seat, as normal, is mint. Dash area, radio, controls, tilt column and steering wheel are near mint. The only area of concern would be the front rug, it has wear spots on both the driver and passenger side. Two things that don't work are the clock and the AC needs a belt & re-charge.

Drive Train: Original matching number rebuilt motor with recites, new brakes, front disc and rear drums, turbo 400 was serviced and is tight, shifts right into reverse on startup and shifts smooth. 12 bolt has had fluid changed, no noise or issues.

Documents: Have Protecto Plate, Owners Manual, Warranty booklet, some paper work from dealer and recall from factory about motor mounts. key knockouts, oil change tag on door, shows done in 1984 with 102,300 miles on car. A pile of receipts from second owner.

Conclusion: A great driving, running, good looking car with a hard to find color. It gets looks and compliments all the time. Car needs nothing unless you want to paint car, but I wouldn't touch it until fall. Just drive and enjoy it. The opening bid amount is a give away for the quality and money already put into it.  Will help in getting  car to shipper.
