SUMMARY:
A  superb solid 18k gold English 19th century highly engraved rack-lever chain driven fusee pair-case pocket watch. The watch is very substantial and in a 2 oz solid gold case, so requires a secure pocket. The watch has been fully serviced and overhauled by my watch maker and is keeping good time. The movement and cases are guaranteed to be 100% original to each other. The rack lever with rare large 30 tooth escape wheel and slide adjuster and screw with nice quality 3-pointed balance cock, marked "Patent", the movement originating from Liverpool.

The watch in simply magnificent condition and from a private collection where it has clearly been looked after very well. Watches from this period in solid gold pair cases are now very rare, and with no pin holes, excess solder filling or stretch marks are very uncommon. The movement with fine round ballustar pillars and equally superbly made solid gold hands. The watch is very handsome piece indeed and further complimented by a very fine condition case. The watch is best described as a time-capsule from the early 19th century in simply stunning condition. This is a beautifully made English key-wound mans rack-lever pocket watch, dating from 1808, from the Georgian period.

THE DIAL: 99% mint, the white cenamel dial with fine black Roman numerals, and a separate minute track to outside of dial and small quarter hour markers and rare subsidary seconds dial. The bright enamel dial with a small chip to edge of dial at 6.00 hidden by the silver bezel. The dial with gold hour and minute hands. The domed glass in very fine and bright condition. Diameter is 47 mm. ">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionysus).

THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with richly gilded full plate in wonderful condition. The well engraved and carved rococo style balance cock and 3-pointed foot in superb condition with foliage and flowers and engraved to "Patent" to base and large diamond end-stone. The back plate with further decoration and Bosely time regulator plate and a slider plate screw for the rack lever adjustment. An uncut three arm steel balance, rack lever escapement with flat hairspring and fusee and chain and 30-tooth escape wheel. The watch is keywind, comes with a key and is ticking very strongly indeed and movement size is 41 mm diameter.

The movement with round ballustar pillars and original bright gilt dust-cover held in place securely. Polished steel movement bolt with its original blued steel screw. Pierced gilded fusee stop work with iron hinge. The movement with several high quality features. These consist of the fusee ratchet on the outside of the fusee, the mainspring set up is under the dial via a ratchet. The finely blued screws are original, the fusee stop is ornate and the gilding/engraving is still bright and fresh. The watch comes with a period watch key and the watch runs the full length of the fusee chain.  The watch is much brighter and  crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equiment.  The watch is in very good working order for its age.

THE CASE: 100% mint, the solid 18k gold outer case measures 55 mm outside diameter. The hinged cover closing tightly, and all in fine order. The three knuckle hinge in good order. The inner case measures 50 mm and with a few tiny dings to both cases. The cases with matching London hall-marks and case maker marks. The pendant is very well made as is the D-bow. The cases with a sponsor mark of "EK". The pair-case of heavy gauge and a good weight and feel in the pocket. The outer-case spring clip in working order and the gold button in good order.

THE WATCH REPAIRER LABELS: 100%, the watch comes with a watch-repair paper dated to the reverse, May 1894 and for an early owner living in Fakenham in Norfolk. The watch comes with a mid-19th century watch-paper from Barnstaple from Hill and Sons of 2, Joy Street and dated, 1st March 1840 for a Mr. Delbridge of Lynton

This is a very fine Regency period antique in simply stunning condition, which is rare collectable item or a possible investment for the future or of course a fine gift for a birthday, anniversary, wedding etc.
