This listing is for the skirt only - other pieces showing in my photos are for colour/display purposes but can be found in my eBay shop.
PLEASE ADVISE SIZE, SKIRT LENGTH AND COLOUR REQUIRED WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR ORDER - Either a note in the payment/checkout message box - this appears when you begin the payment/checkout process - or an email with those details is fine too at the time of order, obviously I can't begin making your skirt until I have received those details from you!
The photos show some colour 'examples' and those exact fabrics may not be currently available, but I do normally have a very similar alternative if I don't currently have those - also these photos are only examples of a very small number of colours available - I have lots of lovely fabrics/colours too, too many to list!! So if you have an unusual colour request you are welcome to email me to discuss - I always answer questions promptly, or contact details can be found for me on my 'ME' page or can be given on request for anyone wanting to speak to me about their costume ideas.
Apologies that my listings aren't too neat and flowery, I am so busy with sewing so I rely on customers sending me questions if there is anything they need to know.

TOP IDEAS (WHAT TO WEAR WITH THE SKIRT) The lovely lacy tops I use for display have been sourced from local Charity shops - it really is easy to find lovely lacy blouses and a couple of mine have come from high street shops too. The childrens ones were just £3.99!! so buying a hand-made one could be an unnecessary expense really.
These are fantastic for any Victorian/Period costume themed events/Dickensian days/murder mystery night/Jane Austin/ballgown events/peasant costumes etc, etc they are such good quality that they can be used over and again, unlike many mass produced packaged costumes - which only survive one wear!!
SIZING: THE COSTUME WILL BE CUSTOMISED TO FIT THE SIZE (WAIST/LENGTH) OF THE WINNING BIDDER.
SIZE DETAILS REQUIRED TO MAKE YOUR SKIRT (dress size/waist and hem length/height)
SKIRT SIZE - the skirt is elasticated with very stretchy elastic so actual measurements aren’t critical as there is plenty of scope in the sizing, and it is a very simple alteration to access the elastic through the waistband to make it a bit smaller/larger if required. I suggest people buying these costumes for fancy dress hire/theatre or for different wearers (ie school teachers) opt for the largest size as it is so, so easy to access the elastic & draw it in/let it out.
Capes and bonnets are available in my other auctions to match with skirts, as separate items or as a 3 piece set - those items are one size.
HEM LENGTH - I generally make all adult skirts to 110cm/44" approx as a standard length (if you need it longer please let me know) this is long but it is a simple job for you to turn up the hem yourself or even wonderweb it, and I leave the hem edge neatened/overlocked. It really is a disaster and doesn’t look the same if it is too short!! I am happy to turn up the hem to your required length if you want me to, in that case I would need the waist to floor/hem length from you and if you do send the measurements please bear in mind your shoes and the underskirt lifting the skirt when you measure. I think the hem is honestly usually best left for you to do when you get it and try it on for it to be perfect - but that is fine if you want me to do it.
FABRIC: The fabrics I use are normally either quality poly/cotton (mainly for the plain colours) or pure new wool for the darker striped skirts (look very authentic for Victorian characters!), also for shiny ball gowns looks there is the lovely taffeta, available in lots of colours - some of these have stripes, some stars and some are plain. Skirt fabric is only used with a nice weight so the skirt hangs nicely. I only ever use fantastic quality fabrics - the rrp for some will have been around £30 a metre!!
CRINOLINE UNDERSKIRTS: The hoops are not supplied but if you search for 'crinoline underskirt' on eBay you will find lots of sellers. The underskirts can be found for as little as £3.99 - which is very cheap when wedding shops can charge £65! The underskirt I recommend is the full 3 layer hoop-less underskirt, as that has the fullness of the hooped type without the awkward part - and it certainly won't rise up over your head when you try to sit down!! Last year a lot of market sellers emailed me with concern about wearing hoops - this is the solution!
