This auction is for the most complete stamp album I have ever seen.
This is the STATESMAN Deluxe Album by H.E. Harris, which I believe has stamp pages for all of the countries of the world - it reads "Spaces for more than 25,000 stamps of the entire world".
I don't collect world stamps and I don't know a lot about them, but I am very impressed with the number of old stamps in this album as well as how many there are for most of the countries. I have done a fairly good calculation of the number of stamps in the book and there are over 12,000 stamps and although I can't guarantee it, I believe they are MOSTLY IF NOT ALL DIFFERENT stamps - I have spent the last hour looking the album over and I did not see any duplicate stamps.
The newest stamp I could find was 1964, and that is also the latest that the book appears to have spots for. The number of older to newer stamps spots which are covered with a stamp seems to be about even and when I look under the stamps, the spots which have pictures of the stamp that is supposed to go there, is indeed the stamp that is there.
Most of the stamps are used; however, there are a number of new stamps, but they appear to be of the newer years '40s, '50s & '60s.
I am not going to say there is anything of value in this album as I understand that most world stamps aren't worth much, with rare exception and I don't have the books or time to check it out - it would take weeks; however, I looked at a new Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps and there are a few "Small Queen Issue", but they don't seem to be worth much; however, there is a used 1/2 cent "Diamond Jubilee Issue" which the book says is supposedly worth $40.00 for a Very Good example?? In any case, even if there is no high value in the book, there are hundreds of hours of entertainment in checking out all of the stamps and you can either use it to fill in spaces in your album or visa a versa - the end result could be quite an album.
I have started this auction at 5 cents per stamp.
