This is an antique small stoneware salt-glazed spirit flask which measures 5 1/2 inches high x 3 1/2 inches wide and dates to around the 1850's. This spirit flask, which could have been used either for whisky or gin, has a flattened oval shaped body and is two-tone in colour with dark brown around the neck shading to a lighter colour at the bottom. The front is decorated with a raised panel in relief in the centre of two figures sitting drinking at a table and the back is completely plain. There is an attractive border of leaves and grapes around the sides and top and bottom of the spirit flask. The condition is good with no cracks or repairs to be found and the colours are bright and crisp with no scratches. There are no nicks or chips to the raised figures or to the border of grapes and leaves.. For accuracy in my description I will point out a small nick to the bottom edge of the spirit flask at the back which does not detract in any way and I am sure the buyer can easily fill this in if required. This antique small stoneware salt-glazed spirit flask decorated with figures and leaves would make an ideal gift or a great addition to any collection.,
