GENUS PASSIFLORA LAURIFOLIA

Passiflora laurifolia, commonly known as the Water Lemon, Yellow Granadilla or Jamaican honeysuckle is an evergreen vine that can reach as much as 15 metres in length. It is found naturally throughout the Carribean Islands, Central America and South America to Peru.

Passiflora laurifolia is grown both for its ornamental value and its edible fruits. Leaves from the water are ovate to oblong, and can be up to 12.5 cm long and 7.5 cm wide.
This vine has fragrant purple and white flowers. Petals and sepals are white, while the corona is purple-blue. The flowers are about 7.5 cm wide.
Fruit is orange-yellow and up to 5 to cm in diameter. It is rich in calories and ascorbic acid can be eaten raw or can be transformed into beverages. It is one of the most cultivated passionfruit.
This vine prefers a well-drained soil in full sun. It is not fully frost tolerant, suffering foliage damage at -2C and dying in temperatures of -3C.
