Japanese Wrapping Cloth

FUROSHIKI

What are furoshiki?

Furoshiki are a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth.  They were used to wrap presents and for taking clothes to public baths.  They went out of fashion for a long time in favour of wrapping paper.  Recently, however, they are booming in popularity due to environmental concerns.  When giving a gift, it can be unwrapped in front of the receiver and then the furoshiki can be taken home and reused, saving on waste.  Also, people have started carrying furoshiki in their bags and using them instead of plastic bags.  The designs are beautiful and the fabric is high quality as it is designed to be used many times.  They can also be used as covers for items in your house or even hung on walls like a tapestry.  Try our Japanese tapestry sticks.
