Southwick coats are made in Massachusetts, at a factory that for year has supplied many of the nation’s traditionally minded men’s stores and also the higher end ‘hand-tailored’ line of Brooks Brothers clothing. Brooks values its relationship with Southwick so much that recently, it bought the factory outright.

Here, for Van Boven, the trad clothier in the Michigan college town of Ann Arbor, they do a classic sack tweed coat – natural shoulder, undarted three-button front, and two widely spaced buttons on the cuff. The coat is partly lined for breathability and has a single rear vent.

The fabric, as you can see in the closeup, sets a blue and rust plaid on a tan and beige ground.
