The Maze Runner Series Collection begins with book one : The Maze Runner. Survival is the name of the game in this dark, disturbing tale where young men struggle to stay alive. A teenage boy wakes up one morning and finds himself in strange surroundings known only as "The Glade." He doesn't remember who he is, where he is from, or how he came to be in this new place. He is told that his name is Thomas Edison, but in fact that is not his real name.

In book, Thomas is soon greeted by a group of boys who are in the same predicament. They explain to him that life depends on certain rules. Their advice to Thomas: Learn the rules. Live by them - or die. By day, the boys try to find a way out of the Maze, an elaborate enclosure that surrounds The Glade. Danger lurks around every corner. The Scorch Trials

In book 2 of the Maze Runner Collection, The Scorch Trials, Thomas and his colleagues discover that escape from the Maze isn't what they hoped it would be.
