Whitefriars aquamarine glass vase by Geoffrey Baxter. Pattern number 9495 1950s

Rare pale blue & green vase in the 'aquamarine' colourway.
Pieces in this colourway were only made during 1957, before being withdrawn due to manufacturing problems with the two colours expanding and contracting at different rates, causing the glass to shatter during the cooling down process.

The vase was designed by Geoffrey Baxter and made by Whitefriars glassworks in England.

Pattern number: 9495.

Polished out pontil mark on the base.

Vase measures 21.1cm tall and width across the top is 12.2cm.

The vase is in good condition with no chips, cracks or bruises.
There a few minor scratches here and there, particularly towards the bottom of the vase, but these do not detract from this very rare item!

Please be aware that you are buying vintage glassware. I always inspect items in great detail and list any major faults such as cracks & chips in the description. You should expect some age related signs of wear such as very small fine surface scratches/marks. Also many of the items are hand made, they may have small imperfections such as bubbles, inclusions & lumps within the glass and often tool marks from where they have been shaped and worked in the manufacturing process. These are not usually seen by collectors as faults or damage, but as part of the character of hand made glass and are not usually mentioned in the description.
