Submitted here for your consideration is a working pair of Sony stereo components. The power amplifier is a model N80ES and is rated at 200 watts per channel @ 8 ohms....270 watts per channel @ 4 ohms. Though I did not attempt it, the amplifier can also be operated in bridged mode for an output of around 580 watts @ 8 ohms total. The pre-amplifier is a model 1000ESD. It is an early Dolby 5.1 surround unit. Both date to around 1990-1994. The power amp is big and measures approximately 18-1/2" x 18" 7-1/2" and weighs almost 50 lbs. The preamp measures approximately 18-1/2" x 14-1/2" x 6".

I listened at length to them connected as a system and was totally pleased with the overall sound. Exceptionally clean sounding power amp and pre-amp. I used the pre-amp in stereo mode only. But when I switched on the surround feature, I could easily hear the reverb and delay effects. through the 2 channel system. Even though I did not thoroughly test the 5.1 feature, I think it would sound awesome. But...this unit makes a dynamite stereo pre-amp as well.

The 1000ESD is a fairly complex piece of electronics and requires a reading of the manual to understand how to operate it. I found a copy online and downloaded it and will provide a free copy for the buyer.  It has a parametric EQ system that takes some practice to operate. The display works well and all of the segments and letters appear to be operating properly. It has a lot of inputs and lots of features.

One of the speaker lugs on the power amp is stripped and does not tighten down. Luckily it is in the open position and it is easy enough to push the wire into the slot and it works fine. The power amp powers up in protect mode and switches to operational "green" mode after about 5 seconds.

They are both in well used condition and show quite a lot of wear and tear. By no means should they be considered excellent or mint. I would classify them as simply "good" condition. They have quite a few nicks and blemishes, but are both totally and completely usable. When I was wiping down the pre-amp with standard 409 cleaner, it started to remove some of the lettering in the top row. See the pics. I stopped short of completely removing the lettering. The veneer is vinyl woodgrain veneer. The two strips that run down the front edges were missing so I used what I had and stuck a couple of woodgrain contact paper strips along each edge. It doesn't match worth a hoot, but looks a whole lot better than none at all. The power amp has quite a few nicks along the top front edge. I ran a line with a paint pen and hid a lot of them, but they are still fairly visible.
