Due to an overwhelming amount of customers who are not reading the information below, thinking they are special and that the pictures of the plug connector must certainly be wrong, or thinking we will hold their hand and walk them through splicing the cables of their existing transducer onto this one, WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING RETURNS OF THESE. Read the information below carefully, this will work on most units WITH MODIFICATION OF THE UNIT END PLUG.

We have recently acquired a limited supply of New-Old-Stock B744V transducers. These were originally intended to be used on Cobra depth sounders, but with the correct plug, this can be used on many of the major manufacturer's machines and sounder modules that use a 50/200 kHz transducer with an output power of 600 watts. Please read below for more information.

Please note: this will not "Plug and Play" with anything but the Cobra units. Some folks are having trouble reading this, THIS WILL NOT WORK AS A PLUG AND PLAY ON NEW RAYMARINE a, c, and e SERIES! This is not the RAYA connector, there is an extra pin and the pinout/wiring is completely different.

All B744V transducers have the same depth elements, whether they're for Garmin, Furuno, Simrad, etc., however, the difference between, say, a B744v for a Furuno and one for a Garmin is the plug at the end and sometimes the way they are wired inside of the transducer.

This will not give speed readout without affecting water temp readout. In other words, you need to decide whether speed or temp is more important and wired it accordingly. We encountered this when trying to wire these for a Furuno sounder, when we found that temp readout was fine until we connected the red and green speed wires. This is the reason these are priced so low. If speed is not hooked up, temperature readout will be spot on.

In order to use this with any other manufacturer's product, you will need to splice another Airmar transducer pigtail (a word that describes a plug with loose wire ends) for the manufacturer you will be using this on. Some of these pigtails are available on ebay and online, some are not. Any pigtail we have will be listed on eBay, we don't have anything in stock that is not listed. Basically, before buying this, make sure you have an Airmar transducer plug for your sounder/module. We also ask that you have knowledge of reading schematics like the one pictured and testing continuity, or you will be lost.

Some pigtails, for instance, a pigtail that was cut from a depth-only transducer, will not have the wires connected to the plug for speed and temp, so be sure the pigtail you are using was from a transducer with all of the functions you will need.

Once you have the pigtail and this transducer, we recommend cutting about 3" of insulation back on each, and connecting color for color either by using waterproof/heat shrink butt connectors (red ones, available at any Auto Parts store), soldering and heat shrinking, or a terminal block. Please note: Temp is between white and bare, not brown and white as is the case on many transducers. The X-ID is on the brown wire and the X-ID and temp share the bare as a ground wire. The bare wire is also the speed ground. I have attached a wiring diagram for this exact transducer model. This schematic will also be included in the box with your transducer.

Some notes: Raymarine units have some quirks and we advise you to be cautious if connecting to a Raymarine unit. This will NOT give you speed reading on any Raymarine unit due to a difference in the speed circuit on Raymarine units - Depth and Temp will work fine. If you have a Raymarine plug pigtail from a 1000 watt transducer, you cannot use this as all 1000 watt Raymarine transducers have a resistor built into the plug that tell the sounder or sounder module that the transducer is 1000 watts. If you ignore this advice splice this into a Raymarine pigtail that was previously used on a 1000 watt transducer, this transducer won't last very long!

The B744V is a thru-hull transducer that will give you depth, speed, and water temperature on most units. It is dual frequency, 50/200, and rated for up to 600 watts RMS of transmit power. This is a new item and is complete with install kit and transducer.
