The Silmarillion by J R R Tolkien hardback book.

This is a first edition second printing of this book with it being published in 1977 by George Allen & Unwin. It was printed by William Clowes and has a blue top stain to the pages.

The book is in good condition and comes housed in its original dust jacket which has not been price clipped (still shows £4.95 net on the inside flap) The jacket shows signs of wear with creasing along the top and bottom and to the head and foot of the spine. Corners are also chipped. The spine part of the jacket is slightly sunned and the front of the jacket is marked - please refer to photos for a full condition report.

Internally, the book is also good. All pages are clean, bright fully legible albeit very slightly yellowed through age. There are no inscriptions or writing anywhere in the book. There also appears to have been a free end paper removed at the front of the book or it has been repaired at some stage leaving some residue behind - please see last photo for details. This does not affect the text pages in any way.

The book contains a pull out map of Beleriand and the Lands to the North at the back of the book (see photos for details) which is also in good condition.

Not a fine copy but a second printing nonetheless.
