Rings and tenon in German Silver

by

German flute maker

- Eva Aralikatti -

This stunning new handmade wooden headjoint for silver flute is made from Chakte Kok, also called Redheart. The crown is made from Pink Ivory with ornamental turning and a genuine Coral inlay.

This headjoint features a mid size embouchure hole for a strong lower register and upper registers which are warm, melodious and rich in overtones.

This rare wood has a very special tonal character which reminds a bit of Boxwood, but is more satin-like, for the lack of a better word ... I absolutely love this wood, it is quite special with its beautiful sound.

"Zero Feedback" / "Just Registered" Ebayers or if you are wanting to buy for re-sale:  Please contact me via Ebay before placing a bid (failure to do so will result in being blocked from my auctions!).

If you need a headjoint made to your own specifications or you would like to buy more than two headjoints for your personal use (!) please do get in touch via the Ebay messaging system ...

The tenon on this headjoint should fit a Yamaha or Jupiter etc. size flute tenon (19.7mm) without much adjustment necessary.  If needed, the headjoint tenon can be adjusted (by sanding down / polishing) by a woodwind technician. These adjustments need to be done on the customer´s side!

Please note, that tenon size can only be made to fit your particular flute accurately, if you especially order a headjoint from me and send in/bring your flute for fitting. Headjoints sold on Ebay are "as is". In case the tenon should be slightly too loose, a small piece of sello tape on the headjoint tenon usually does the trick.

Please also note, that most flutes like Yamaha or Jupiter measure 150mm from tenon end to mid embouchure hole! The tenon itself is usually 40mm in length. If your flute has radically different measurements, please do contact me BEFORE buying a headjoint. I do not accept any returns, because it was not known to the customer that your flute radically differs from these measurements!

A little about the process of making my headjoints:
These wooden headjoints are handcrafted by a trained woodwind instrument maker! These are not cheap imported chinese headjoints, polished in the UK! I carefully select, import and season my own wood and every headjoint I sell is handcrafted by myself from scratch!  I do not use CNC machinery or copying devices, which are employed by most makers these days, every headjoint is individually handmade. The embouchure hole is shaped the traditional way, entirely with handtools.

Here some personal feedback of customers who have previously bought a headjoint from me:

…thanks for the wonderful head-joint and the time and care you have taken to make it for me. It does sound very warm in tone colour and has a rich resonance. The timbre is a delight in the lower register and allows both an even legato and clear articulation all the way to low B. …

I have been comparing the qualities of sound provided  by my  four head-joints, Flute Makers Guild / silver, Ewen McDougall / gold, Robert Bigio / silver lined blackwood, and your own (Kingwood / unlined, ELEGANTIA). They are indeed all different and you must be congratulated that your head-joint certainly holds it's own in this company.  I shall use your head joint a lot ...

Hello Eva,
I received the Rosewood headjoint you made and it is fantastic. The tone is wonderful, earthy and resonant. I can hardly wait until it is played in, so I can really spend time with it. (Amazon Rosewood / CONSERVATORIO)
.I just wanted to let you know that I love this second head joint (Mopani Wood / CONSERVATORIO) as much as I love the first one I purchased. With their different embouchure hole types and different woods, these two head joints make a wonderfully versatile pair. Thanks so much,

Hi Eva, just a quick note to say how much I am enjoying the new headjoint (Mopani Wood / CONSERVATORIO) I find it makes me want to spend more time playing and practicing. I am using it with an old solid silver … flute from the 1930s … and am pleased with the sound; it seems to be equally suitable for classical and jazz styles so far. Only problem is I have trouble going back to my usual headjoints...they tend to sound a bit weird and nasty after playing your one!

Liebe Eva, ... Also, ganz herzlichen Dank für deine tolle Arbeit

I have duly received the headjoint (Rosewood / TRAD) yesterday. It produces a beautiful sound and solves my silver allergy ... Thank you for this great craftsmanship and the crown- it is beautiful artwork!

Hi Eva ... in short, I am very happy with the headjoint (Tigerwood / TRAD). I have a handmade Powell flute... The tone (of the headjoint) is lovely... Thank you for your work and I continue to follow what you have on ebay.

Dear Eva,, I thought I'd let you know how the headjoint (Boxwood / CONSERVATORIO) and I are getting along  And what can I say?  We are getting to be better friends every day!

I wouldn't have expected the sound to develop in such a way, it's quite exciting.  It was a bit fuzzy at first, but that was probably just me, needing to adjust, and now it's becoming ever clearer and richer.  Smooth, round, soft and darker than I would have thought.  Not as bright as expected, but I love it!  I really, really do. ...

... I will certainly buy another.  One with a differently cut embouchure hole - I am sure it will be fun to be able to switch headjoints according to the mood I am in

Really love the Headjoint (Kingwood / TRAD)! Made a $500 flute sound like $5000 instrument!

Hi Eva, I received the boxwood headjoint yesterday (Boxwood / TRAD), which arrived in perfect condition. It is even more beautiful than the photo shows. I've been playing it some, and the sound is superb, with it playing very nicely...  I'm having no difficulty getting the full 3 octave range of tones. …Again, thank you, Eva, for making an outstanding boxwood headjoint for me!. .

Hi there, chuffed to bits with this head joint (Amazon Rosewood / CONSERVATORIO no lip plate) … It is such a truly beautiful piece that you have made. I think I have finally found the perfect flute sound that I actually have wanted all my young life xxx Thank-you so much !! Xx

I received your headjoint (Honduran Rosewwod / CONSERVATORIO) today. Your beautiful headjoint is perfectly paired with my 14K red gold Pearl flute both in appearance and color of sound!!! Thank you for your talent and craftsmanship!

Hi Eva,
I just wanted to let you know that I tried my new headjoint (
(Kingwood / STUDIOSO no lip plate) yesterday evening...I love it!!! I've been playing for around 30 years and I've tried many different flutes and headjoints. The combination of my Miyazawa flute and your headjoint gives me by far the sweetest sound I've ever managed to produce in the 2nd and 3rd octaves, and the bottom octave sounds wonderfully dark and woody! Articulation seems to be a breeze on this headjoint as well. Very very impressed!

Please note: My headjoints do not come with a warranty except explicitly stated in the auction text or in your invoice, as this is just not feasible in a lower price range. If you would like a headjoint with a warranty, please consider one of my fully custom made headjoints. In the very unlikely case there should indeed be a crack developing (this can usually be avoided by slow and careful playing in!), I will of course aim to repair, where possible. Repairs do however carry a fee and shipping charges are to be paid by the customer.

Allergy Sufferers:

I use Linseed and/or Almond Oil for the bore and for polishing my headjonts. In case of a known nut allergy, please contact me for a custom made headjoint for which mineral oil is used instead!
Known wood related allergies
: MOPANE and OLIVEWOOD are considered hypo-allergenic woods. Please contact me before purchase to discuss.

Postage:
For insurance reasons, I am unfortunately not able to combine postage when sending my headoints abroad!
