This year marks the 25th anniversary of Pixar Animation Studios

To commend this achievement The US Post Office issued the Pixar Stamp Series called "Send a Hello".  In fact, this was such an achievement that a "Send a Hello" First Day of Issue Ceremony was held at Anaheim Convention Center during the D23 expo held on August 19th.

To commemorate this event D23 produced their own First Day of Issue EXCLUSIVE envelope that shows a silk square depicting the Magic Mickey D23 logo embossed with blue foil, with one of the 5 Pixar stamps and the Send a Hello cancellation with a Toy Story 3 eyed Alien on the upper right corner.

To make this even more collectible, additional matching stamps were added so commemorative cancellation stamps could be applied.  The center stamp has the Magic Mickey D23 logo cancellation.

These EXCLUSIVE envelopes sold out the fist day August 19th of the D23 expo and what really makes this item rare that the stamp on the lower right has the official US Post Office Anaheim post mark August 19th red cancellation. They only had one red cancellation stamp, which made lines so long that only five envelopes could be canceled per person.

What does D23 mean?
“D” stands for Disney, and “23? represents 1923, the year that Walt Disney arrived in California and founded what was to ultimately become The Walt Disney Company.

The “Send a Hello” Forever stamps are a natural outgrowth of the Art of Disney stamp series issued between 2004 and 2008. Originally intended as a series of three annual issuances depicting friendship, celebration and romance, the Art of Disney stamps proved so popular that the Postal Service expanded the series to include the issuances in 2007 and 2008 to celebrate imagination and magic.

“I couldn’t believe it when they told me that the U.S. Postal Service was going to honor Pixar with our characters on United States stamps, I was so excited…I was very honored when I heard because I think it is a great way and a fun way to celebrate Pixar’s 25th anniversary. In classic Pixar fashion, we didn’t even know it was our 25th anniversary because we’re looking forward so much…. But the U.S. Postal Service did! And we’re so excited about that.” said John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Pixor

The stamps were designed by art directors Terrence McCaffrey and William Gicker together with Ben Butcher at Disney/Pixar and Dave Pacheco at Disney Consumer Products.
