"Before you even think about cleaning your screen here's a couple of things you need to know".

#1. Is it plastic or glass? You may think the TV screen you’re about to clean is made of glass but, look again. There’s a good chance your screen is made of polycarbonate; that’s right, plastic. In fact, if you own a wide screen TV, LCD, DLP, or plasma screen or even a notebook computer, it’s more than likely made of plastic.

#2. Is it an anti-glare screen? 60% of all new screens will incorporate an anti-glare screen. Using a cloth with a high abrasion factor can literally destroy an anti-glare screen.

#3. What kind of cloth are your using? It makes a huge difference. What you have been using could cause some damage to that very expensive screen. Never use a dust cloth or, heaven forbid, paper towels.

#4. What fluid are your using? You've probably been told it doesn't really make any difference what you use by firends, relatives and salespeople. NOT TRUE!!! Just look at the ingredients... Alcohol and other additives.. these are all caustic ingredients... they are not even safe for the environment let alone the screen that sits in your office or in your living room. And, if all you are using is water, it's not going to remove the kids fingerprints or that spot that shows up where the dog slobbered on the screen.

SCREEN KLEEN to the rescue

There are two important parts to the Screen Kleen technology.

For a cleaning fluid to be safe and effective on polycarbonate coatings, it must be pH balanced and leave no visible residue. Screen Kleen was first successfully tested in the optics industry on small, sensitive plastic lenses to make sure it was safe for anti-reflective coatings. The product committee of the National Electronics Service Dealers Association further tested Screen Kleen on big screen TVs. In both cases, Screen Kleen was found to be free of harmful chemicals and did not leave any harmful residue.

So, what is micro fiber? Micro fiber cloths were originally developed for cleaning “clean rooms” in the semi-conductor industry and then for sports apparel to soak up perspiration. Micro fibers are constructed of a combination of polyester and polyamide (nylon) fibers. These synthetics are interwoven and put through a special process where each filament is split into 16 sections with 16 interval spaces. A micro fiber is approximately 1/16th the size of a human hair and has approximately 90,000 cut edges in one square inch of a micro fiber cloth. Ultimately it is the resulting density of a micro fiber cloth that allows micro fiber to lift and trap dirt and oils.
