While this is a small valve and always been neglected, in fact, a working check valve can be the difference between a TOP-PERFORMING Reverse Osmosis System and a system that does NOT work.

It is never a bad idea to change your Check Valve and Flow Restrictor when you change your membrane, in fact, Without a properly working check valve, the unit will not shut off properly when the tank is full, a great deal of water will be wasted, and eventually the membrane will be ruined. a few dollars spent can extend the life of your system, filters, membrane and save water dramatically.

Flow Restrictors (also known as Flow Controls or Capillaries) are required for all reverse osmosis systems. The Flow Restrictor must be properly sized to the RO membrane capacity. Flow Restrictors create pressure throughout the reverse osmosis membrane element and maintain a desired ratio of reject flow (to drain) and permeate (product) flow.

Application

  • Fits standard RO membrane housings (1/8" NPT )

  • installed on the outlet port of membrane housing where pure water exits.  The check valve prevents the water from running backwards through the membrane.

Many RO units have small insert style flow restrictors that are inserted into the 1/8" X 1/4" elbow that connects the drain tube to the membrane vessel.
