Postage. Within Australia, I can send cassettes at the letter rate by posting in its original case, in an envelope. This will keep the postage low, but there is the risk of a cracked case.  But you may save several dollars by using the letter rate and simply replacing the case should that happen. Additional packaging, eg bubblewrap, will take it to the parcel category which is more expensive.

International post now have to be sent as trackable parcels, no more letter rate :-(

Will combine post where it is cheaper to do so.
