What is this item? Alto sax mouthpiece by Berg Larsen. Most people call these hard-rubber mouthpieces, but it's actually Ebonite. 90 over 0 with an SMS facing. Comes boxed brand new with a Berg Larsen ligature and a Berg Larsen cap. Facing is SMS style which is the European (or French) facing. SMS is by far the most popular. The French (SMS) facing has a shorter, steeper curve than the M (American). FYI: the M (American) has a slightly longer, flatter curve (this is not the M). Tip Opening is 90 and is measured in thousands of an inch. FYI: the range in alto tip openings is usually from 75 to 100. Special orders can be produced above and below that. This is a 90 and is in the range of Medium (85 to 90). For Reference: The 95 to 100 would be Medium-Open. The Tone Chamber is a 0 (Brilliant). Ranges are from 0 (brilliant) to 3 (mellow). So to restate what you are getting here: Alto Sax Ebonite (Hard Rubber) Mouthpiece: 90/0 SMS. Brand New With Box. NOTE: Read our Return Policy concerning brand new mouthpieces. There is a restocking charge for the slightest scratch, teeth indentation, etc. In some cases a return may not be granted given the condition of the return. Our suggestion is to make sure to do your homework & want the mouthpiece. If it turns out you don't want it, your best bet may be to sell it on your own. Does this picture look close to what I will see in person?
Yes. Some photos are with the camera flash. Some photos are without camera flash. We did this so you can get a good idea of what it looks like. Notice the etchings on the end of the mouthpiece. These are typical of how the machines etch in the Berg name & numbers. The etchings are never as perfect as they should be. The etchings (Berg Larsen name, etc.) always have this inconsistent look to them. We know Bergs very well having played them and this is the norm for these. The facing, opening, and chamber are always perfectly precise. Please make sure you read through our Return Policy before purchasing. Mouthpiece must be returned (postmarked) within 30 days of receipt. Must be in the same condition as when it was sent with all original materials. Buyer is responsible for all shipping & insurance charges for the Return. Shipping and Insurance charges will not be refunded. We require the buyer to insure the returned package for the full value. If the mouthpiece is not in acceptable condition, there will be a restocking fee. The restocking fee will be at least 10% based on the condition. In some cases the percentage may be higher and/or a return may not be granted. The slightest scratch, teeth indentation, etc. will implement this charge.
