Alfa AWUS036EAC- low cost 802.11ac 867 Mbps Wi-Fi Adapter upgrade

Alfa AWUS036EAC brings high speed 802.11ac technology to PCs at an affordable cost. It is a 867 Mbps Wi-Fi USB adapter compatible with Windows XP through Windows 8/8.1. It features a small profile with fully integrated antennas with a dongle style that connects directly to the USB port. Also included is a special laptop clip set with short USB cable that fits many of today's laptop bezels.

AWUS036EAC is capable of receiving and transmitting on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz bands. With 802.11ac standard routers, it can achieve throughput speeds up to 867 Mbps, almost three times that of the 802.11n maximum of 300 Mbps. This adapter is backward compatible with 802.11g and 802.11n networks, but will have limited speed with those networks. An 802.11ac router is required for the maximum throughput..

Your 802.11ac router will perform optimally when all of your computers are on the AC standard, so this is a great low-cost way to upgrade them all. This is brand new in retail box and includes the adapter, driver CD, and USB docking clip with cable as shown in the picture. We buy direct from Alfa and are an authorized retailer of Alfa products. A USB 3.0 port is required for the maximum connection speed. Using this adapter with older computers that do not have USB 3 ports will limit speed to 480 Mbps max.

It will work with any computer that has an available USB port and Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, or Windows 10 (note Windows 10 drivers can also be downloaded here). In April of 2017 Kali Linux has announced packet injection is now supported in Kali 2017.1 release. Kali Linux users should refer to Kali forums for technical support. This works on Microsoft Surface Pro tablets running Windows 8 (requires driver download) but does NOT work with Windows Surface RT tablets or other tablets/laptops running Microsoft Surface RT, which looks like Windows 8 but is actually a locked down version of Windows that does not support 3rd party drivers.
