Originally named Tommies.  The brothel was burned down and rebuilt and when it went up in flames again Tommie said “the hell with it”  and left town.  The fires were questionable.
The property came up for bid due to delinquent taxes and Helen Carter bought it.  She obtained a license to operate a brothel and built  the Hacienda, which was a success. 
In 1958 a windstorm caused an electrical fire and the main part of the Hacienda burned.  Helen worked hard with three of her girls using an ironing board for a bar and used the maid’s quarters to make the money to construct the business that is standing today.  She sold the business in the 1970s. There have been several owners but the Hacienda is still a legal brothel in the city of Wells.
