What Can Cause a CA43-29 Thermostatic Cartridge to Produce Imprecise Water Temperature Regulation?
Thermostatic cartridges are designed to control water temperature with exactness as calibrated by the shower user. However, a number of factors can lead to an incorrect temperature output such as an inconsistent hot or cold water supply, an blockage in the gauzing from hard water debris or dirt, a cracked cartridge, or a failed thermostat capsule.
Another cause of off the base water temperature control is the âoverturningâ of the CA43-29 Crosswater compatible thermostatic cartridge. Overturning occurs when the cartridge was turned more than 720 degrees clockwise (upwards two full turns). In this case, the o-ring responsible for anti-scalding might have detached from the cartridge, triggering the absence of temperature control.
To ensure that the CA43-29 cartridge for Crosswater is working as intended and water temperature is properly regulated, check the consistency of both water supplies. If the supplies are normal, isolate both hot and cold water supplies to remove the cartridge from the valve housing. Inspect the gauzing for any residue that can hinder water flow. Remove the residue if it is present. If the gauzing is clear, check to see if there are cracks on the cartridge itself. A cracked cartridge will call for a need to replace the whole cartridge.
If the anti-scald o-ring has come off, remove the Crosswater CA43-29 cartridge and reposition the o-ring on the top of part of the cartridge.
