Specification:
Cable Choice:
Investigation of our main competitor’s choice of
25mm² cable was looked into first due many reports of fitment difficulty: I
found the following information...
An industry standard voltage drop of 3 to 4% was
generally regarded as acceptable.
Voltage drop over an average length 25mm² cable in our application is 0.02V or
0.17%
Voltage drop over an average length 16mm² cable in our application is 0.03V or
0.25%
Therefore both cables far exceed this requirement
meaning 16mm2 cables are more than fit for purpose and indeed over engineered
for our application; as long as the life time quality with no deterioration
could be achieved.
Cable life:
To ensure a lifetime of service with no
deterioration we approached a specialist aerospace & rail industry
cable/terminal manufacturer and specified the best anti vibration / anti
fatigue cable systems available for your motorcycle. Not being satisfied
stopping there we commissioned a double sealed system where the cable not only
seals against the crimps due to the 35 tonne fusion crimp, but is double sealed
with a special bonded heavy duty heat shrink on each join. Further to this we
had our supplier remove the inspection hole in their high quality copper
terminals to give a system that would remain fully sealed for life in the
hardiest of conditions – so no deterioration in current flow over time due to
cable degradation.
Cable design:
Our supplier already had a bespoke cable developed
for the rail industry which employed a special rope weave within its
construction for extreme anti vibration qualities. Straight cable when bent can
fatigue the copper, hence reducing the current flow. The rope system made up of
hundreds of micro 0.2mm² high quality pure copper strands does not suffer this.
So, we had our perfect cable. One minor problem, it was only available from our
manufacturer in black. Why not make the +’ve cables the correct colour: red, so
we did! These can be covered with black heat shrink on naked bikes if the
customer requires so we supply this in our comprehensive kits.
Terminals:
Aerospace
industry leading heavy duty ‘seamless’ copper terminals were chosen for maximum
electrical conductivity. These undergo a 35 tonne specialist crimp process
which gives excellent conductivity and an industry leading strength – they will
not fail: our manufacturer’s crimps have proven to be stronger than the cable
itself during testing!
Each terminal is designed for optimum performance requirements and bespoke
designed specifically for fitment to individual models; they are then annealed
and tin plated to protect the longevity of the terminals performance. This
means no cutting of battery boxes or plastic covers no matter how complex the
terminal design needs to be and indeed no change or splicing of your bikes
wiring loom.
35 tonne specialist crimp - under tests our cables snap before the terminal fails! The advanced crimp method improves conductivity.
These cannot be made in a local garage, only in a specialist facility. This is why we count Ducati Main Dealers and the likes of MWS Motorcycling Wiring Specialists among our customers & F1 Engineers too!!!

Fantastic parts, superbly made and excellent after sales service, Stu is very knowledgeable and helpful. My 1098 now leaps into life with a vigor I never thought possible!!

Just fitted a set of these cables to my Multistrada 1200s.The difference is unbelievable. The bike now starts straight away instead of the heavy, slow turnover it used to have. Stu couldn’t be more helpful and the whole service he provides is excellent. One of the best mods you can do to your Ducati. Would highly recommend this to any Ducati owners.

Hi Guys
I just had to email you with a little more in depth feedback. I have to admit
being a little sceptical that this kit could fix the problem let alone make the
outstanding difference to my 1098 it has.
The kit arrived rapidly and on opening it i was struck by the quality of the
instructions with some very clear photographs and directions. I was impressed
that everything you need was included, the
only thing I was surprised was missing was a tool list but hey that’s pretty
obvious when you come to do it. The whole job is easily carried out and the end
result was truly amazing, before fitting
the bike would not turn over after spun up and fired in seconds. The whole bike
rides and runs better and even if left a couple of days, starts with prior to
fitting not a chance without an optimizer.
Thank you very much £80 does seem on the face of it to be a lot for 3 cables
but once fitted they are priceless.
Thanks
Sue :)

Outstanding!
Can't say enough how impressed I am at the NIGHT AND DAY transformation in the
bike, having fitted to Exact Start battery lead kit to my 2003 749. I wouldn't
have thought that it could be such a dramatic improvement, now starts first
time on the button.
The kit was deceptive, I thought it was a nicely packaged job but when I came
to fit it I appreciated how thoroughly this had been thought through. I thought
@ 70 quid was fair for high-quality leads, but you know... one of those
slightly begrudging purchases that I'd put off for a while...
Having used this kit I now think @ 70 quid is bloody cheap, because that's such
an impressive improvement and the kit as I fitted it put EXACTLY the right
information in the right order and all the little nick-knacks that you'd
otherwise have to go hunting for were included.
Outstanding. I'm sure I'm not the first to tell you that this product rocks,
but I'm a right pernickety bugger and it takes a lot to make me impressed. I
am. Very.
Thank you mate!

Fitted to my Multistrada 1200. Can’t believe the difference it made. Bike starts straight away now. Thanks Stu.

OMG what can I say I’m so happy. After a good hour
fitting the cables I poured some electricity into her and bang she just fired
into life.
Anyone who has the starting problem and doesn't have these fitted is quite
frankly silly. I was a bit unsure myself I must admit but having seen the
difference with my own eyes and ears GET THEM FITTED.
Mr Exige you are a star.

I've just fitted cables and the results are superb: the bike starts with
barely a hesitation, certainly no turning over waiting for it to fire.
Fitting is not trivial, but that's more down to the crazily cramped and
congested battery box design (Ducati should be ashamed of themselves!). It took
me a couple of hours of fiddling and I've had the battery box off before to
replace the fuel pump / ignition relay so I was expecting this, but the cables
themselves were a great fit and feel very solid and secure. Initially I didn't
give myself enough length on the Solenoid to Starter Motor run (I needed to
route it above the nearer of the two lower heat-shield mounting points), but
once that was sorted the length was perfect.
Interestingly I've had the Magneti Marelli Lithium battery fitted for a couple
of months and whilst it's always started first time, it would still turn over a
couple of times before rumbling into life. Now it is pretty much instantaneous,
which does suggest that the original starter circuit cables really are the
limiting factor. It's almost not worth buying the Lithium battery unless you
have these better cables fitted (apart from the 3kg weight saving of course!).
Brilliant job @Exige. Many thanks - instructions were excellent, and the little extras like
the wipes, washers for the heat-shield mounts and the little bits of cut pvc
tubing to hold the battery nuts in the right place were really handy.
