Hand manufactured in and imported directly from Argentina, these Alpargata's story began when the shoe first arrived in Argentina with migrants from the Basque region of spain and by the end of the nineteenth century, they could be found in nearly every houshold in Argentina across the country.
Today Alpargatas are a "must" in the wardrobe of the gaucho, but can be found all over Argentina and South America alike! We have even seen the rise of the basic Alpargata style in the US under a certain name with a little Argentinean flag on the back. When choosing your size, keep in mind that you want it to be slightly tight to begin with, as the shoes will stretch a little bit and conform to the shape of your feet.
What has made this style of shoe so difficult to resist over the last few hundred years is the comfort of lightweight, flexible soles and fitted casual feel.
