Papaya leaf has been used in medicinal applications for centuries as it provides almost miraculous results.* Native to many tropical regions, the papaya plant (Carica papaya) also has industrial, culinary, and cosmetic uses. The presence of alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, glycosides, and saponins in papaya leaf lend to its therapeutic action.*

• Anti-malarial. This tea can help prevent malaria via the action of certain compounds found in papaya against mosquito larvae. These compounds can also be effective against dengue fever.

Precautions

Papain in papaya leaf has been known to cause allergic reactions in some. Note that papaya is likely safe for most people when taken by mouth in moderate amounts, either in food or as medicine. Papaya can be possibly unsafe when consumed in large amounts or when taken as an oral medicinal. As papaya may be an abortifacient (a substance that induces abortion), its consumption during pregnancy is not advised. 

Preparation: We recommend using 1 tea bag per 8 oz of water at a full rolling boil (212°F) and steeping anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes. Teas prepared from light, delicate blossoms or leaves require shorter steeping times than more hearty herbs. If you prefer a stronger brew, we suggest using multiple tea bags.
