1929 MALING TRANSFER WARE NORTH EAST COAST INDUSTRIES EXHIBITION TEA CADDY/BISCUIT JAR WINDSOR CASTLE, 5 BRIDGES ST, NICHOLAS CATHEDRAL 



        
        This tea caddy would have been filled with Rington's tea or later could have been used as a biscuit jar. This jar dates from the the early 20th Century and is entirely covered in blue transfer ware scenes of bridges Windsor Castle and St. Nicholas Cathedral in England. The lid has Windsor Castle. The six sided jar has scenes of St. Nicholas Cathedral Newcastle, Tees Transporter Bridge Middlesbrough, Wearmouth Bridge Sunderland, Royal Tweed Bridge Berwick, High Level & Swing Bridges Newcastle, and The New Tyne Bridge Newcastle. The bottom of the Jar has a Scene of the Offices & Warehouse of Rington's Tea, Algernon Road Newcastle upon Tyne.
     This Jar is 4-3/4" across the opening, 4-1/2" across the base and 6-7/8" at its widest. It measures 5- 1/2" high with the lid. This is in excellent used condition and the color is quite good. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs.
