This listing is for a Beautiful Vintage Cut Faceted Tear Drop Opal Bead Pendant Necklace mounted on an Sterling Chain
The opal bead is cut on both sides.
Overall weight is 2.1 gram and so a rough guesstimate of opal is set about 5 carat.
The Opal is suspended on an sterling rod with ends looped and connected to sterling chain. The chain connection is permanent and so chain cannot be removed ( except I guess by opening the loops at end at the bead and or replacing the chain with a larger chain on bothe sides , or simply adding a chain extension to the already existing one).
The stone is in excellent condition. It is drilled on top for passage of silver rod. One end of drill hole looks a bit rough which I am not sure that is how it was made or if the play of rod in the hole would have caused it. This is invisible to eye and you will note see or note it ( its not visible to naked eye) and can only be seen if you grab a loop and examine it very close.
The overall length of chain is about 16 inches. This is rather small as I could not find a neck that this would fit on even as a choker to photograph it hanging from neck or worn .
The lock of chain is marked "925".
The opal measures approximately 12 mm long , 10 mm wide and 5 mm thickest.
Lock attracts to magnet . The chain does not adhere to magnet. Where the silver rod goes through the hole in opal , one can under magnification see silver oxidation inside the hole.
Purples, reds , oranges, greens . Very colorful and pleasant.
